Hi, I’m Carrie, I am an experienced and accredited family mediator, helping divorcing and separated couples make the decisions that need to be made for their family and their future. These might be around the current and future arrangements for their children and/or how finances should be divided. I have been working with separating couples for over 16 years, first as a family lawyer, and over the last 8 years as a family mediator. As a family mediator it is my job to help couples look at what decisions need to be made, what their different and preferred options are, and what will work for them and their children practically. I am accredited by the Family Mediation Council which means I have met their stringent criteria in relation to experience, competence and ongoing training. I work with couples online and in person at a number of locations across Oxfordshire. I charge a fixed fee for all meetings so people are clear about costs.
Divorce and separation is an extremely difficult time for people, and I know that the mediation process can be daunting. People have all sorts of concerns about what has happened in the past, what might happen in the future, and the mediation process itself. I want to hear about these concerns at the initial meetings with my clients so that I can help and support them through the process.
I studied law at university and qualified as a family lawyer in 2005. I have been a practicing lawyer ever since. Over the years I have seen how stressful it can be for people to go through the Courts, and wherever possible I want to help people avoid this. I therefore trained as a family mediator in 2016 and have been working as a family mediator since then. I practiced as a mediator at Hedges Law until I founded Arch Family Mediation..

We want to help our clients resolve difficult decisions in a more amicable and cost effective way wherever possible. We don’t want anyone to have to go to Court unless they have to, as significant solicitor involvement and Court proceedings can be very costly and stressful and usually increases the level of conflict between people.

Carrie has also worked as a family lawyer for over 16 years. Although Carrie will be your mediator and therefore isn’t able to provide legal advice, being a lawyer means she has a wealth of information to give, and when it comes to financial arrangements, Carrie knows what needs to be considered for the legal documents that will follow.
