At Arch Family Mediation, we’re proud to offer the government’s £500 family mediation voucher to help cover the cost of mediation where discussions involve arrangements for children.
To make mediation as accessible as possible, we’ve structured our fees so that the voucher covers the full cost of the first joint session – including preparation and follow up – meaning there are no hidden charges. The only cost is for your individual MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting), which is £150 per person.
To qualify for the £500 family mediation voucher:
- Mediation must be about, or include, arrangements for children.
- One voucher is available per couple/family.
- You’ll need to sign a consent form so we can apply for the voucher on your behalf.
We’ll talk through the voucher scheme with you during your MIAM and take care of the application process, you will just need to sign the consent form we provide, and we’ll handle the rest.
What is family mediation?
Family mediation is a process where an impartial third party, called a mediator, helps family members resolve issues and come to agreements, often during or after events like separation, divorce, or other family conflicts.
Key features of family mediation:
- Voluntary: People choose to participate.
- Confidential: What’s said in mediation stays private, with a few legal exceptions (like concerns about child safety).
- Neutral Mediator: The mediator doesn’t take sides or make decisions but facilitates and helps conversation and problem-solving.
- Child-Centered (when applicable): Mediation focuses on the individual needs of children.
Common issues addressed:
- Practical arrangements for children
- Co-parenting and parenting plans
- Division of property and assets
The benefits of mediation:
- Typically faster and less expensive than court
- Less adversarial, helping preserve relationships, particularly important when children are involved
- Greater control over outcomes compared to other options
- Child focused
